Ode to Death

Owing to the rather lamentable effects of heaven knows what
THAT was pretty illegible, but could not NOT publish it :), et Voila
And thanx to a certain "poor wee laddy" known as MEESUM
for suggesting certain,ahem, necessary corrections
.
Through the ravines deep and treacherous,
Fearlessly on she rides on her steed,
In the pits filled with suffering men,
She comes, and they pay for their deeds!
.
In the hospital wards she treads most often,
The sick and suffering long for her knell,
For forlorn as a friend she may seem to be,
To the friendless, she is freedom from hell!
.
On solemn visitations she embarks every morn,
Easing the sick, comforting the poor,
Who hath not known, revered her in fear,
Hath not dreaded her, if life he holds dear!
.
Ah, beauteous she is to human sight!
But doomed is the one who can see her thus!
Beauteous though she may seem to be,
With blood red lips, and eyes of dusk!
.
She treats all equally, pauper and prince alike.
In the incapacity of infants she holds no conviction,
And though Justice she may not be indeed,
Yet, justice is what marks her direction!
.
For she is no mortal, luscious she be!
But aye, take away your breath she will!
You dread her now, but you'll love her still,
Hark, is it Her, playing on your sill?

ps: I understand this is very illegible, so I'll try and type it in too :(
